Hi! Danielle here, I'm the designer & creator of Zuri & Dre
I’m a minimal graphic designer & illustrator from Montreal, best known for my self-published colouring books; Black Queens and Black Kings. The colouring books went viral on social media and gave me the opportunity to have segments on CBC, Global and CTV, amongst many other local & international platforms. The viral post on social media also gave me the opportunity to create a book with publisher HarperCollins, together we released my board book, “My Hair”.
I REALLY appreciate all of your support for my books as well as this brand, Zuri & Dre. I never imagined to I’d reach so many people with the items that I’ve created.

Social media project, turned colouring books…
In 2018, Danielle wanted to create faces that would showcase people who looked like herself, and her community, in a way that would reflect her trademark minimal style.
Once the faces (or avatars) finalized, and posted on social media, she received so much great feedback from family, friends and colleagues. Based on all of the encourage from her community, she created colouring books; Black Queens (2017) & Black Kings (2018), also known as Black Colouring Books. The books were well received online and in-person, not only for their representation, but for the included positive affirmations that aimed to help uplift people, young & old.
The Zuri & Dre brand was born from the love of art and diversity found in the colouring books coupled with the help & feedback of the community.
